We are closed on Sundays and public holidays.

The library offers loans of books in print, on CD and playaway; music CDs, DVDs for adults and children. With your valid library card you can also use the e-resources available at all our libraries. Libby, for ebooks audiobooks, and magazines, PressReader for newspapers and magazines, Dorkk for CAPS curriculum compliant lessons for Grades 1-12, Psyche: the mental health app, and more. Our libraries sadly don’t offer physical newspapers and magazines anymore, but we compensate for that by offering a much more robust stable of e-resources, allowing patrons to make use of our services and stock whenever and wherever they like.

The City currently has 101 libraries, two satellite libraries and a mobile library service, that not only lends books but provide access to electronic resources and community events.

Southfield Public Library services the community and residents of Southfield.  Here community members can loan books and have access to computers, newspapers and a variety of other resources.
We also run a range of educational and fun programmes in all of our libraries.
