The Fish Hoek Tennis Club welcomes new members and visitors alike.  A list of the Committee members, their contact numbers, and the general rules regarding play (ie when the different categories of members and visitors may play) is published on the Club notice board.  Club membership application forms are  available at the club as well as on this website.
The Club’s annual financial year runs from 1st June until 31 May of the following year. Subs are determined at the Annual General Meeting each year. New adult members are required to pay a once-off joining fee (currently set at R450 per adult). The club has a range of different annual subscription fees that are payable for the different categories of members.  Discounts are offered to family members and persons over 70. Juniors and scholars are not required to pay the joining fee. The subs for new members may be reduced on a prorated basis (75%, 50%, 25%) depending on what time of the year that they join the Club.
The 2016/17 subs are as follows:
Ordinary ie Full  : R1185 - With family discount: R1070 per member
League playing Student/Junior     : R490   - With family discount: R435
Non-league playing student/Junior: R185 – With family discount : R180
Seniors (ie over 65 and with at least 10 years membership): R945
Over 70 (on 1st June): R945
Country:   R705 (Overseas persons not living in Cape Town)
Social (ie non-playing members): R155
Temporary membership up to 2 months may also be negotiated
Courts are open for play by members at all times except when reserved by the Committee for a particular purpose (such as for league matches), subject to the proviso that members are given timeous notice of any such reservation. Recognised tennis clothing AND ESPECIALLY TENNIS SHOES, must be worn during play.
The “A-streamers” generally play on Saturday afternoons although many of the ladies in this group also take part in the very active Tues/Thurs morning ladies league. The Men’s Veterans section (for over 50s A-streamers) play on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12h30 until 16h30) with other younger A stream members being allowed to play from 4pm onwards on Tues/Thurs and also on Saturday afternoons from 12h30. The “Midweek Social Section” in turn, have their own very active Mon/Wed/Fri morning group and start playing at around 08h00.
Members and/or visitors who play during these pre-arranged times are expected to fit in with the group arrangements at the time; private social play is unfortunately not permitted at these times but can be arranged at other times. Balls are provided by the club for play at the organized social play times; members must provide their own balls at other times.
Juniors generally play at times other than the above (Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons as well as on Saturday mornings or all day on Sunday).  Adult members and/or visitors not wishing to play with the organised streams are welcome to play at these times although it must be stressed that preference on the use of courts on Saturday mornings will be for Juniors, especially during school holiday periods. Visitors will be required to pay the applicable visitor’s fee of R25 per adult at the bar or to a committee member on duty. Visitors are also asked to note that as the club grounds may well be locked at these times, arrangements to play must therefore be made in advance.
During the months that the formal Western Province ladies, men’s, and mixed leagues are in progress (generally Feb/March and Sept/Oct & Nov), the courts are reserved for league practice from 4.30pm onwards on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Social play is accordingly only allowed if courts are free – social players (including visitors) may be asked to vacate courts if these are needed for league practice.
The matches in these leagues take place on Saturday afternoons when all but two of the club’s courts are used for league matches; the remaining two courts are reserved for social play. Visitors will have to join in the club’s social play arrangements at these times.
Use of floodlights - only members themselves may book courts; they may not book on behalf of non-members ie they must be present on the court. Bookings to be done through the club bar & kitchen manager Jeff Lewis on 0733108316. The fee will be R10 per hour per members player with payment made to Jeff at the pub either before or after play or on demand from Jeff. No payment delays will be allowed.
Coaching : The Club has also engaged the services of a professional coach Jackie Booth. Interested parties are more than welcome to contact her on 0845626335 in order to arrange private or group coaching sessions
