Chelsea AFC - Bridgetown is a community based soccer club situated in Athlone, Cape Town. The club was established 8 years ago, when a number of ex-members of the old Chelsea FC decided to re-establish the club, after the club was closed down a number of years ago.
The club’s membership consists of approximately 200 affiliates at present. Chelsea AFC has 7 junior teams from u/7 up to u/19, a ladies team and 5 senior teams. The club plays their soccer in the Kewtown / Bridgetown (Athlone) area on a community soccer field named Field Crescent situated next to Athlone Stadium.
The club is affiliated to the Cape Town Tygerberg Football Association (CTTFA) and South African Football Association (SAFA) respectively.
The club is focused on developing less fortunate kids from the townships and giving them the opportunity to compete at a professional level in the future.
Chelsea AFC has a Semi - Professional side which competes in the 3rd Division SAB League. Two of the biggest values that are practiced at Chelsea AFC are competitiveness and discipline.
