The club was formed by Drexler Kyzer, Trevor Heinrich & Trevor Sassman in 1972. The club produced many national swimming and lifesaving champions.

Manta Swimming Club was established in 1972 and has been stationed at the Wynberg Municipal Pool since then.  In recent years the club has secured various indoor facilities for winter training and currently enjoys tenancy at Wynberg Girls Junior School’s Aquatic Centre.

As a bastion in Wynberg and surrounds, the club offers swimming to old and young.  We currently cater for the following:

• Learn-to-swim
• Mini Squads
• Junior competitive league
• Senior competitive league
• Adult classes
• Open water swimming

Since swimming is a sporting code which is enjoyed by all, irrespective of age or ability, Manta has always been a family-orientated club.  The black-and-yellow clad Manta Rays can be seen at the Western Province Aquatics  and some Swimming South Africa-sanctioned events in and around Cape Town and the rest of the country.  In it’s 4 decades of existence, the club has been represented at swimming, water polo and synchronised swimming, coaching and administration at provincial and national level.
